Four members of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco & Grain Millers union from Crystal Sugar and four members of United Steelworkers Local 207L embarked on a six-day, six-state trip Wednesday from Fargo, North Dakota. This video features interviews and kickoff events for the caravan that took place in Fargo, ND and Moorhead, MN on February 22, 2012.
Along the way, rallies and other events highlight the seven-month lockout of 1,300 Crystal Sugar workers in Minnesota, North Dakota and Iowa and the nearly three-month lockout of 1,051 workers at Cooper Tire in Findlay, Ohio.
On the second day of the journey, the Steelworkers and Cooper Tire announced a tentative contract settlement had been reached that could end that lockout. Union members will vote on the contract Monday, the same day the Journey for Justice culminates in a large rally in Findlay.
